During the 80’s, New Jersey had high car insurance premiums. Insurance companies there were under massive governmental and regulatory constraints and were unwilling rewrite their car insurance policies.

What changed?

Over 20 years ago ex New Jersey Insurance Commissioner James Sheeran and a highly respectable insurance expert Dr. Chang, created The Citizens United Reciprocal Exchange (“NJ CURE”). When the small firm opened it’s doors in the 1990’s, NJ CURE Auto Insurance was heralded by newspapers and television to be the “CURE” for the current high costs of auto insurance. NJ CURE has since expanded past the boarders of New Jersey, modified its name to reflect its growth and all while continueing to satisfy its clients. CURE has no agents and therefore doesn’t pay out large commissions. Claims are handled at CURE’s Princeton office. CURE Auto Insurance’s Princeton office is centrally situated so that all claims are received quickly. CURE does not profit from its clients, and that is what sets it apart from other car insurance providers today. All members of CURE’s executive board are apart of the CURE family. Due to this the need to have a large profit margin is eradicated, and CURE’s clients benefit through lower premiums.

What else causes CURE’s auto insurance to be lower than its competitors?

It is a firm belief of CURE Auto Insurance that car insurance premiums should be based on your driving history. Unlike the competitors who often base premiums on a credit score, place of employment, or level of education, which all increase your premium possibly even doubles it. All based on statistics that have absolutely nothing to do with driving ability. CURE Auto Insurance energetically opposes using anything other than driving ability to decide a client’s car insurance price and offers tips to overcome this discriminatory practice.
